HMP Elmley

Elmley is a purpose built local prison, situated on the Isle of Sheppey, Kent, serving courts in Kent. The establishment was opened in 1992 and since then has varied its function to include two training units catering for category C inmates, one unit catering for vulnerable prisoners,a spur(59 places) for unconvicted young offenders, as well as retaining its primary function as a local prison. Of the same design as Bullingdon, an additional unit was added in 1997. It has also opened a drug unit.
